Moreover, they include stickers to help its users to share authentic information about COVID-19 instead of getting or spreading fake news.

Instagram announced that post which would be debunked by fact-checkers will get down-rank. As it is part of its struggle to overcome the misinformation in the wake of pandemic coronavirus. Even this update applies not only coronavirus false information but any post or stories which would be debunked by 3rd part fact-checkers.

Statement By Company of Instagram to the Daily Beast confirmed it:

“Our partners independently assess false information and once they rate content as false, our goal is to give users that context, wherever they may see it. If fact-checker rates content as false or party false, we feel it’s our responsibility to let everyone who sees that content know that it has been debunked.”

It’s written in a blog post:

“Over the past few weeks, we’ve added a notice at the top of the feed for countries affected by COVID-19. The notice includes reliable resources from expert health organizations. In addition, we’ve been highlighting resources from these organizations when people view related hashtags.”

But it’s not the only feature the app launched to keep users connected and informed. Instagram also added more educational tools for users to check the information published by the World Health Organization on the coronavirus.

Similarly, it added stickers to help people share accurate COVID-19 information from fake news.

Another statement is quoted in a blog post.

“Over the past few weeks, we’ve added a notice at the top of the feed for countries affected by COVID-19. The notice includes reliable resources from expert health organizations. In addition, we’ve been highlighting resources from these organizations when people view related hashtags,”

So from May, now Instagram is going to escalate its fact-checking policy in the U.S and 45 3rd party authorities will work on this app to find out the actuality of pictures and videos. False content and material will be hidden and interstitial warning of blocking until users click again to see their post.

In the past, Misinformation and Misguiding have been an aggressive problem for Facebook already so that Instagram has to check on detecting any wrong or fraud information. Post having any false information is getting downlinking now by fact-checkers of the 3rd party.

On the other side, it’s an appreciated economy of scale for shielding the internet. Breaking up all social media platforms might lead to poor implementation via split means, however, it could lead these apps to contest for the finest temperance.

Fortunately, Instagram is not more dangerous because posts and stories are not directly linked to websites where money could be raised by politicians only those users who are verified can attach the links with stories. That means wrong information can still be purposely weaponized on this app by politicians and people’s thoughts that they can trust what they get on Instagram.
