Twitter Threatens Legal Action Over Meta’s “copycat” Threads

Meta being the innovative giant, has once again come up with a new way of conversing with your followers or with your friends and family by simply taking what Instagram does best and implementing that on a new platform while limiting it to give it a new feel. Meta has used the help of threads, as the name suggests, to put as the basis of this application, however, they are being accused by Twitter

With the arrival of threads, many people are now thinking to themselves that they’ve seen this somewhere else. No doubt that Meta has introduced a new platform with enough potential to revolutionize the way social media is used and perceived but this fact can’t seem to help that we have seen a similar and older platform of the same idea. Even the name which was given to this new app is a creation of the older platform named Twitter.

Now, the owner of Twitter, Elon Musk is not happy with this new arrival by Meta. This doesn’t stop here, twitter has already sent threats to Meta that they will be sued by Twitter. Moreover, it doesn’t seem like threads are going anywhere, even though it’s a newer platform that got released this Wednesday, it still has the back of the social media giant, Instagram. Threads have well over 30 million signups with the help of the audience from Instagram and it’s looking to take on Elon Musk’s Twitter.

That being said, Elon is coming for Twitter on the basis of “ systematic willful and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property.” Said Spiro.

He further exclaimed, “Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights, and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information.”

This goes to show that Twitter is coming for threads unless they shut it all down, the basis of the newly arrived platform is in danger by Twitter. Threads is being accused of having access to confidential information of Twitter and having used Twitter’s trade secrets.

What comes next is another accusation by Twitter, Spiro, in his letter accused threads of hiring former Twitter employees who “had and continue to have access to Twitter’s trade secrets and other highly confidential information.”

After this accusation, Andy Stone from Threads responded by saying, “No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee — that’s just not a thing.” After this, a former Twitter senior employee took a step into the situation and told Reuters that they do not have any information about former staff working with threads, along with no senior personnel who went to Meta for any purpose.

During all of this mayhem, Elon Musk had said, “Competition is fine, cheating is not.” He has surety that threads have something to do with Twitter’s secret and confidential information and he continued to accuse threads of the stealing of the confidential information.

This is still going on and Twitter is still holding on to the same accusations while Meta keeps on defending itself by falsifying these accusations but what is the truth behind all of this? We shall know soon.

Other than that, there is a catch to using threads as well. The catch is that you cannot simply remove your profile or delete your profile from this platform, that is unless you’re willing to delete your Instagram account with it. That’s right! If you need to delete your threads account for some reason your Instagram account will get deleted with it. However, this is a whole other topic to discuss.
