Mark Zuckerberg takes a swipe at Apple in an Instagram plug for his WhatsApp messaging platform

In an unsubtle Instagram statement, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, attacked rival Apple for what he claimed was Apple iMessage’s lack of security compared to WhatsApp, which Meta owns.

Zuckerberg shared a photo of an innovative Meta billboard at Penn Station in New York, which depicts a blue bubble similar to that in iMessages, a bright green bubble similar to that used in iPhone to-Android interaction, as well as a completely separate “Private” bubble in the manner of WhatsApp underneath it, alluding to WhatsApp as that of the remarkable messenger app.

Whatsapp is significantly more personal and reliable than iMessage, with end-to-end encryption that operates across both iPhones and Android devices, enabling group conversations, according to the CEO’s Instagram post.

Additionally, he noted that “iMessage still lacks” features like encrypted backups and the ability to arrange texts to vanish. Still, iMessage does allow customers to erase texts within three minutes of receiving them. WhatsApp, which Facebook acquired in 2014, implemented these features the year before.

Google previously this year also targeted Apple’s iMessage platform. Google referred to Apple’s technological standards as “outdated” and encouraged individuals to start a hashtag campaign, claiming that the iPhone’s creator had failed to improve the customer experience among Apple and Android customers by using the RCS standard.

Privacy issues
